Addressing the gathering, Ndagire commended the youth leaders for their dedication to community service and their efforts in building skills such as computer literacy. She also recognised their performance in last year’s Luwalo Lwaffe competition, where the sub-county secured the fifth position.

Speaking to the youth leaders, Kalinda said their positions come with the responsibility of guiding fellow young people and ensuring accountability in community activities.

“As elected youth leaders in the office of Kaggo, you are tasked with monitoring and guiding your peers. Your role is crucial in reporting the work done by the youth and ensuring transparency in service delivery,” she said.

She emphasised the importance of teamwork and urged the youth to coordinate closely with local council officials while observing directives issued by the Buganda government.

“You must fill your sub-county committees diligently. Every activity you undertake should reflect the guidance of your local leaders and adhere to government policies from Mengo,” Kalinda said, referring to the administrative headquarters of the Buganda Kingdom.

Kalinda also encouraged the youth leaders to actively participate in cultural and development initiatives organised by the kingdom.

“You should participate in fundraising for the Kabaka’s ancestral tombs, defend the district’s interests, especially in Kyadondo, and support your teams in the Kaggo Cup,” she said.

She concluded by emphasising the role youth leadership plays in mobilising resources for development within the county.

“Through your service, you bring development to the county. When you engage in these activities, you coordinate with sub-county offices and mobilise the necessary materials for building the county, including funds, sand, cement and other resources,” she added.
